Adding Arctic Pac to 3170DS

Just got a 2015 3170DS with only 5k miles on it. We are psyched. We live in MA, and thinking about using it in the winter for day trips and maybe overnights to ski areas this winter since most lodges won't be open. We would also like to just go to the Cape for a night if the weather is nice.

Anyway....

It doesnt have the Arctic Pac switch, so no heat mats under the tanks.

Has anyone added them to their Sunseeker? Do you know if the wiring harness is there and I could just connect the switch and the mats to existing wiring harness?

I did find in a search here the link to the OEM supplier that I am forgetting right now.

Is there a better solution we should consider?

Thanks very much. Glad to be a part of the community!

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. I think you might consider in the winter leaving your rig winterized and using bottled water. You can add heating pads with that said I doubt you will find wining installed however I may be wrong.

Note that the arctic pack heaters are “power hogs”. Not useful, in my mind, except for campsites with hookups or while the generator is being used. My bias - for moderate sub-freezing temps - is to dump RV antifreeze into the black and gray tanks. Even though the antifreeze will get diluted (I do add more with use) it does inhibit hard freezing in the tanks.

They use so much power the battery control module has a fuse position on it that turns off the heaters below 13.3 volts

If you use your propane furnace, you won't need tank heaters. There are heat ducts from the furnace to the tanks. We once had a 25 mph wind and 19 F overnight. The compartments with the water pump and filter, and with the tank drains, were over 50 F. I never turned the tank heaters on.
