Any U sharped dinette mods out there?

After almost three years with our Forester, the DW says we should modify the U shaped dinette. The table is small and you really can only get 4 maybe 5 adults around the table, When our friends join us camping and we become 6, there is no room plus you can't really but a chair up to the table as the dinette is mounted on the slide platform an raise up maybe 6 inches. One couple has the conventional 2 bench style but it's deep enough to get 6. The other has a FR trailer with the U dinette but it's flat on the floor and the table is larger. We all fit comfortably with one sitting on a fold up chair on the end. Any ideas, the DW doesn't like the wasted space on the padded curves.

Is sitting outside not an option?

Why should you have to modify YOUR camper to appease your friends?

If you are referring to the 2701DS you should have opposing couch seating, are you not able to utilize your other seating areas for entertaining? Whats the logical reason for doing the modification?

We often camp with friends along the beach at Rincon, CA. Some evening are great outside and others are too cold or windy. We go inside to eat, play board games and a little gambling. That's why we are looking to modify it. Also, the DW says it's ergonomically designed and not very comfortable at least for her.

Just an idea for you as I have not tried a mod and don't have your camper.

My uncle has SOB camper. His U shaped bench allows for the back seat to be removed and used as a coffee table making it deeper to maybe fit 6 (tight) down each side. Gives you a nice place to rest your feet on the couch and allows for storage and sleeping. It is on wheels and the cushions remove as well.

Tried a stool and works great. Measured table and found not centered and I will build a better more spacious one with USB outlets to lay over the existing.
