Awning died ?

2016 Forester 3011DS.

Went to extend the awning and nothing! No movement, no noise, dead silence.

Any suggestions??

Going to the Oregon coast in a couple of weeks and don't use the awning much there so not a huge issue at the moment. Just wondering about ideas before I cave and call the dealer.

Thanks

Are you sure you have 12V power to other parts of the trailer?
Have you checked the fuse for the awning?

One thing for sure.... it is 'in' at this time. you need to read up on this and how to 'fix' it, because if you are camping and have it 'out' and ready to leave and then not know how to get the thing rolled back up....

not good....

1. Engine was off? Awning will not work with engine running.
2. Check fuse? It's in the battery control center which is on the side of your entry steps I think on your model.
3. If above 2 are good then check 12v going to switch. Then 12v coming off switch. Then 12v at the motor.

Was the coach level? We have a 3051s and I tried to extend the awning once before I had it leveled and it did just what you said- nothing not even a click. Haven't tried it again and maybe that was just a coincidence but that's the only time it ever acted that way.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. Of course none of them helped. Not your fault but more of an operator error issue (dang...hate when that happens).

On our way to the coast, stopped at the dealer and asked if they could check it out real quick and if need be would make appointment to have fixed later. Tech came out asked what happened. Told him hadn't used awning for quite a while and when we tried to it wouldn't do anything.

He went in coach and started using the in/out switch like a toggle switch
in/out real fast, did it about six or seven times and then held it in the out position and danged if the awning didn't start moving. Apparently hadn't used it for so long that it was just sort of stuck together and needed some help to get started.

Anyway just thought I'd let everyone know what happened. Thanks again for the suggestions and will keep them in my little book of "try this."
