bath faucet swap

Replaced OEM bath unit with a house unit. Tools needed are a basin wrench, flashlight, and QA from DW (more later on that topic). Took 15 minutes, but leave it under shore water pressure over night (suprize me at home where the tools are, and not on the road). I did use the OEM faucet nuts as they were thinner allowing more thread for the waterlines.

Most bath faucets have a plunger knob. I cut about seven inches off the stem and added a 1/2 of plastic tubing to the stem on the underside of the faucet, could just drill a small hole to let the stem drop down in the sink.

So after the install DW said why not put drop of glue on the stubby knob and push it in, if it becomes loose in the future just reglue it. DW common sense trumps eng degree..... again.

This is on my list of mods to do. I hate the plastic faucet in the bath. Feels like im going to break the faucet everytime I use it.

Just did ours as well, was as equally simple as yours. No more squeaking. Once I got the plastic one off and examined it, I couldn't believe how cheap it was. Every bit of it is made of plastic.

Soon after we got our Sunseeker I replaced both the kitchen and bath sink fixtures with residential single handle units. The single handle is especially good for the kitchen sink. When rinsing dishes by turning on only hot water it was too hot. It was inconvenient to turn both hot and cold faucets. With the single handle I can set the mix to a comfortable temperature.

Like Rambler Guy replaced bath faucet and shower with single lever because hot water was too hot and easier to mix with the single lever. Read a thread in the Forester forum about an adjustable thermostat for the hot water heater.Install was quick and made a big difference especially in the shower

I glued mine, too, after I cut off the stem.

Steve, speaking of grands, we also cracked open the waterheater bypass part way to lower the hot water temp at the faucet.

How hard was it to do. Did you just reconnect the new faucet with the old PEX connections? My sink is set up just like you have. When I look under the sink, what a tight space to work in. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bath faucet swap

For mine, PEX hooked right up. Had to use a rotary file to enlarge the holes. Tip, the cabinet wall nearest the door has an open top. If you drop one of the retaining nuts down there it's a bear fishing it back out. Go for it!

butchs, if you haven't done this yet, I wish I would have picked up a couple of push on PEX to 3/8 shutoff valves when I put mine in. I did, when I changed the kitchen faucet.

I did pick up the 1/2 to 3/8 shut off valves for the bathroom and kitchen. Thanks. Makes for a easy change.
