Battery disconnect switch

I have a 2016 3010DS. I decided to put in a battery disconnect for winter storage. I installed a knife type disconnect on the negative terminal and was quite surprised that it didn't disconnect. I tried it on the positive and that didn't work either. I ended up putting a disconnect on each battery terminal. That of course accomplished it. There appears to be some kind of feedback through grounds or devices. Have other people seen that or do I have an electrical problem?

My class C has more than one ground cable entering the battery box. I have not researched the function of each cable. Do you have just one, or more than one negative cable coming to the battery compartment? Do you have 1 or 2 (or more) batteries?

A picture of your setup might help.

i doubt that you have an electrical problem. it sounds like you only have one battery. is this true? by suspicion is that you did not install the disconnect switch properly. there can be multiple cables connected to each battery terminal. you have to move all of those cables to one side of the disconnect switch and then install a new cable between the battery terminal and the other side of the switch. that way all current from the battery terminal must flow through the switch that you use to either connect or disconnect the loads. did you move every cable off the battery terminal?

battery disconnect

I have dual coach batteries. I connected all ground leads to the switched side of the knife switch. Also same with positive side. When I power it up, I do the ground switch first. At that time the bigfoot leveler controller sequences its power on lights. That makes me wonder if there is a feedback loop between the bigfoot controller and the ignition interlock. Maybe tying the coach batteries and truck battery together through the bigfoot. Just a guess. I have to drive out today to where it's stored to get some pictures of the setup.

On a 2016 you Should have a BCC already. My 2012 has a shut-off located to the left of the entrance steps (above the BCC).

BCC=Battery Control Center

Smile battery disconnect switch

I have a 2012 sunseeker 3120DS . I have been wondering what the lighted switch to the left of the awning is. My mobile repairman did not know what it was. So, is this the disconnect for the 2 chassis batteries located in the step?
Should this be on when I hook up to electricity this charging the batteries?
thanks in advance for any advice!!

rboudreaux : First find a new mobile repair man. Yes there is a coach battery disconnect switch in your control panel or beside the door. Good luck.

Thank you. I was reading in manual and found that this switch must be on to charge battery. Is that your understanding too? And if off will it not be able to use batteries or just not charge?

Correct. That coach kill switch cuts off battery drain in the coach and is used when you are away from your rig for extended periods. You should hear a clunk sound when activating the switch and the switch will light up. Good luck

If your switch is the same as shown (arrow) and installed the same as 69BBC's Georgetown the switch light will be on when connected to shore power no matter switch on or off so always actuate top half of switch when on shore power to allow charging of coach batteries. Just a thought.
