battery drain

Coach batteries going dead from a full charge to less than 2 volts, in less than a weeks time, while in storage. The round disconnect by the steps is turned off. Any thoughts on what could be draining them?
Have stored it in this manner previous two seasons with no such issue.
It is a 2016 3010DS.

Have you had the batteries tested with a hydrometer, after the are fully charged?

Battery drain issue

Thanks guys for the info. I will get the necessary equipment to do that and see what the results are. Would be "nice" if it is simply a battery issue, as opposed to something wrong electrically elsewhere in the coach.

How long do the original batteries tend to last with pretty regular use? I am having a bit of a draining problem also.

Depending on how they are used and maintained, you can get 4-5 good years from the batteries normally supplied with a new RV. In some units, the battery disconnect switch will not disconnect the CO/Propane detector and possibly the DVD player. If this is the case, you can either move those connections to the switched side of the disconnect switch or remove the ground terminal of the battery. If the unit is in a remote storage for some time, I suggest disconnecting the negative battery terminal as this prevents vandals from turning lights such as tongue jack lights as the jacks are not normally controlled by the disconnect switch.

instead of getting the equipment needed to load test the batteries you can take them to almost any auto parts store and have them do the load test. this is normally done for free. some will even let you leave them overnight for a free recharge. of course, their objective is to sell you things, like perhaps new batteries.

Battery drain

It turns out that the batteries in this 2016 coach were manufactured in 2014, according to the labels. I took them to the auto parts store and they did a draw-down test on them and they were bad.
New ones installed. I put a disconnect unit on the negative terminal lines. That has kept them from depleting while in storage.

It should be noted that you can kill a battery in less than a year.

Having too small a battery as often supplied with the rvís will do it.

They do not take running down below 12 volts very well.

make sure they are fully charged before you store them. new batteries may not come fully charged

My neighbor is a Interstate Battery dealer. When I first moved here we talked about how long batteries last in NW PA. I seemed to get around 5 years. He told me the one in his truck was 10 years old! The key is never allowing to discharge too low or the big killer fully discharge. Then he advised me to put the trickle charger, or battery maintainer, on my battery twice a year. He explained this will more deeply charge the battery than the alternator and is good maintenance for the battery. The battery in my truck is now 8 years old. As for our TT it is here so always plugged in and being maintained by the converter. Our old TT was 5 years old and the battery tested fine when we sold it. If we stored our TT the battery would come home and be on a maintainer.

My batteries that came with my MH lasted 4 years, then I replaced them with Interstate deep cell batteries last winter. I check their level every month and add distilled water as needed.

Putting a toggle switch on the magadyne radio/dvd dash unit is on the mod list. I have had an instance when it turned itself on. We came home from town and heard a random thumping sound when we got out of our car coming from the coach, thought maybe it was a bad relay or such from the charging system. I had turned the battery switch off earlier that day and turned it back on as I left the coach. Turned out the sub woofer was reacting to a signal sent from the radio that was on. The radio had not been manually turned on for over a month. The sub has since been removed to reclaim the storage space.

Wonder if it is sensenstive to low or flux voltage?, wont matter when Im done..
