Bedroom vent

Howdy,

Has anyone replaced the bedroom vent with a vent that includes a fan like the bathroom model? I am in a 2016 3170DS. We just finished our first summer and would like to have more air flow in the bedroom and did not know if it is feasible to get electric to the vent in the bedroom or not.

Thanks.

Most vents regardless of vehicle have a 12v wire near the vent area! Youroo! !

I suspect that 12 volt power is pre wired above the ceiling to the vent location already. Our Lexington had a fan in the bedroom from the factory but I recently upgraded it with a unit that has a remote control since my DW could not reach the fan control without climbing onto the bed, just a recommendation.

Not all RV front ceiling vents are prewired for anything...

Sure there is probably a light or other line running near there to tap off of.

My 5'ver does not have any prewired anything in the bedroom ceiling vent.

I do have a Fantastic Fan that will be going in the bathroom vent sometime in the next couple of months (now that the temps are cooling off).

Of course, that one is already wired with the tiny little stock fan so my juice is already there.

Just remove the trim, 4 screws, if there are wires, you will see them. Red and white. If not, just pull power from a light.

We put a Vortex II fan in our bedroom ceiling and when we dropped the trim the wiring was right there!

Good luck!

I have a 2016 3010DS. Changed the bedroom vent out for a MAXXFAN 10 speed remote control. Easy to do. Forest River prewired the vent for a fan. If you remove the inside trim ring, and look up along the edge, you should see the wires. DW loves the fan in the bedroom.

I installed the Maxxfan 6200, just like Bill & Gails but no remote. A bathroom vent (Heng Special) is exhaust only and pretty anemic at that. 757Daves Vortex II (also Heng) is much more appropriate for the larger volume space and it is reversable. Also much easier to install but you may find it to be a bit loud. Then there is this thread with another school of thought: http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...ml#post1915124

I have had the trim ring off of both the bedroom and living room vents (neither have a fan) and both had wires tucked away for powering a fan. So presumably I could put a MaxxAir fan in either location. So pull the trim ring and you will probably see wires available for powering a fan.

I'll have to look and see.

I've never removed the plastic trim ring...

I do know that I'm not wired for a second AC unit, though.
