Bilstein steering stabilizer
Had an alignment on my 2016 Forester and the shop recommended getting a different steering stabilizer. Has anyone seen a difference in handling with the Bilstein? I eventually want to change the shocks to Bilsteins also. I had them on my Winnebago and saw an immediate difference in handling. But never changed the stabilizer as I installed a Steersafe. I removed the Steersafe from my Winnebago prior to selling it and believe it fits the Forester.
I know there are other products out there by Roadmaster and Safe-T besides the Steersafe. But for now, I'm asking about the Bilstein stabilizer.

Did you have the alignment done using standard Ford Specs or did you use the modified specs I've seen posted here a few times?

Had to run out and buy an 18mm socket. No rubbing and about to test drive it.

Tested
Drove well, noticeably less wandering and more control. Almost unhanded steering now, but this was under windy conditions. May be GREAT when calm. Less effect from trucks passing.

Sounds good.
I want to put some miles on mine after alignment first.
Did it tighten up the steering wheel "play" at all?

I am following your opinions Sagecoachdriver as we just purchased a 2016 Coachmen Leprechaun 319 DS in August and I have been researching adding a Bilstein stabilizer or Roadmaster or Safe T Plus to my E450 chassis. I drove in high winds a month ago and it was interesting to say the least. But overall when the winds are normal I had one hand on the wheel and not bad at all. My only issue so far is I want to improve the steering some. Look forward to your evaluation and opinions. ����

Yes it did, not 100% but a lot. As I mentioned, it was windy at times but did well.

Stabilizer dust cover
If you take a look at my photo, the dust cover seems to crunching up a little. It crunches up bad when I turn to the right and expands out when I turn to the left. Should I cut the tie strap holding it down or just forget it?
I went with this stabilizer instead of one that I would have to remove the OEM brackets and install new brackets extending out for clearance. This does just clear the linkage.

I would just forget it. Its purpose is to keep road grime from collecting on the Rod end of the shock. It is the rod end that goes in and out of the cylinder. The cover is not a structural part of the dampener(shock)
I have used this style as shock covers on off-road Jeeps to keep mud out of the shocks.

Reason for crunching
Took a closer look. The crunching of the boot is because of the linkage behind it. the boot makes contact with the linkage, but not the stabilize.

You should be able to loosen the U bolt brackets on the right a little and then rotate the stabilizer outward toward the front to gain some clearance then tighten the U bolts again. Take a look maybe that would work?

Bilstein said to cut the tie strap holding the boot on and adjust it and re-strap . Will try that first.

Billets was right!
I cut the tie strap and moved the dust boot up and inch, also it was twisted a half turn. Boot is fine now.
