Brakes for towing a Jeep

What are the best braking systems for towing a Jeep, I’ve been looking at blue ox the patriot 3 and the invisibrake. I like that with the blue ox it’s not all the wires and hoses and hardware on the brake pedal but I don’t know anything about this any help will be great.

I use a Blue Ox Patriot 2 (earlier version than 3) and love it. Easy hook up and reliable monitor in the cockpit.

I have a 2016 29ft Georgetown 270S towing a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.
I have the Demco Stay and Play Duo. Works very well and really earned it's keep on downhill section of several 6-7% mountain passes in Colorado. The system not only held the jeep but added some to the RV braking. Like the permanent install and the design that supplies vacuum to the master cylinder along with the air pressure to activate the brake pedal cylinder. Over 20,000 miles towed. Equipment cost similar to portable choices but higher install costs.

I built an RF transmitter/receiver kit that generates a signal from the indicator pigtail in the jeep to the receiver indicator light in the RV. Good thing I did this as once or twice, forgot to turn the system on in the jeep. Demco's version of this cost $200+. Mine cost $60 including a failed first attempt device.

I have a 2014 Honda CRV with the Blue Ox portable unit. I towed it from Florida to California, Alabama to Washington state, and up to Canada with no issues at all. Even over the Rockies it did great. Towed it with a 2016 Holiday Rambler 38ft class A.

We used the Blue Ox Patriot system on a 2012 Jeep Liberty. We also used the Blue OX independent wiring kit for tail and brake lights and a battery tender wired to the MH. The entire system was flawless DIY. I can't compare it to anything else because this is the only system we used.

Though you did not mention which Jeep you had, I will mention power to the cigarette lighter. When we bought the Jeep, the cigarette lighter would only have power with the ignition switch on. With the Liberty, it is towed automatic transmission in park, transfer case in neutral, ignition off and key in the pocket.
It was a simple fix to get the cigarette to always have power, necessary for the Patriot brakes to work. In the fuse block under the hood there are two fuse positions for the lighter. Pull the fuse and move it one slot over according to the manuel.

X2 love mine only a switch to turn on and off we go. Brakes with this set up is great love the way they operate and help.
