Broken door latch

The door latch on our 2251 has quit working. I got the inside piece off but cannot get the slide to unlatch. Short of prying the crap out of it to get it open, I have no idea what to do. Any suggestios or solutions you may have used. Thanks.

In case you were unaware there is a repair kit available. Look at the business card on photo 2 of his listing for a cheaper direct buy.

When mine broke the DW informed me that an electric key pad was the only way to go. It wasn't cheap but it made her happy and I've gotten used to it. In fact I'm not really sure where my door keys are any more.
