I would need to unscrew and dump either way. Only way to get AF in my filter would be suck it through the tank.. Not gonna do that. AF fill it down stream from the filter, but I do not have a sunseeker.

I think I know the answer to this but...does this mean I can't use any running water inside my rig since all the water gets filtered through that canister and there is none there now?

Just curious, how tight did you tighten canister when you winterized.

No need to pull A/F from Tank,no need to put A/F in tank. A/F must be Pumped through the Pump for pump Freeze protection, this must be preformed on the Suction side of the Pump, otherwise not All the Chambers will be free of Water! Youroo!! And drain the little Pre Filter!

Read about them cracking on this site and have always removed the canister and place in a drawer after winterizing is complete.

I should bypass it because we don't use it. We never drink water from the freshwater tank.

We save our melted Ice water,,, run it thru a PUR water canister,,, and use it for cooking & coffee,,, we have done that for years because we used to camp on our own land,,, where there was no water available,,, we also @ that time used it to make more Ice,,, because it took over a hour to go to a store and back !!!
Waste Not,,, Want Not !!!

The Factory filter also "Filters" all water from City Inlet, you might want to rethink Removing the Filter as it keeps "Things" out of faucets, toilet valves, ect. Youroo!!

If we ever have to add water,,, we carry a filter to hook to the hose outside,,, I always filter all water before it enters the MH... nothing wrong with double filtered water !!!

Are these canisters breaking only during freezing months? I understand the bypass mod, but I guess my question is are they breaking under normal use on city water?

My Water Pur simply fell off one summer afternoon. Clean break all the way around towards the top, but not on the threads. Luckily we were there. I now make a habit of shutting the water off at the spigot when we leave for the day.

After winterizing, blowing out lines, then anti-freeze we just leave the filter off until we de-winterize. A little water in threads and cold will crack the filter in a heart beat. Bottom line, if not using the unit in winter, just leave the filter off. That filter is not available at lowes or HD, only can be purchased from water pur or from FR, or maybe a RV dealer.

I've read many of a person whose filter just unscrewed itself right off its mounts... Some have even watched it turn itself off!

I have also started to shut off our water when we leave for the day to avoid a flood. We installed a HD / Lowes filter so we can get the filter anywhere on the road if I need a filter or the whole housing.
