Bunk bed area conversion

We are working on becoming full timers and I have a question about bunkhouse coaches. Is it possible to remove the beds completely and put a small recliner in that area with a TV and create a "man cave" type area. I watch a lot of sports and my wife doesn't so having two tv areas would be nice. Has anyone tried this?

Anything is possible. In most of the double over double bunks, the upper could be removed to make a big cavity. You couldn't stand in it but could certainly make a space for a recliner.

It also wouldn't be crazy as a reading or work area for a couple trying to maximize space in a trailer.

Should be possible, but I'd measure the depth. My camper is a fifth wheel but the bunks are only 30" deep and the bunk slide is only about 32-36" deep. Can you fight a recliner in that area?

Considering this is in the Forester section, I think the OP was referring to a set of kids bunks in a Motorhome. I don’t have much familiarity with Motorhomes other than walking through a few demo units, but based on that limited knowledge, I’m going to hazard a guess he’s referring to one of those bunk in a closet type spaces. If so, yeah, I guess it could be done, as long as you had a narrow enough recliner to fit in there, and if there’s nothing under the bottom bunk allowing you to go down to the floor. Not knowing your layout at all (tried googling the model number in your information and not getting a concrete hit) I can’t really say more than idle speculation.

We have a heritage glen 42’ 5ver with a bunk house. It came with a double bed below and a single above. I converted the single to a double bed for now. We have put a large TV in the bunkhouse. My kids are 15 and 18, once I they stop wanting to go with us, I plan to replace the lower bed with a sofa, and keep the upper for guests. The bunk house would be a home office, extra TV / sport viewing room

Coachmen Leprechaun upgrade

This is what I did to my Bunk house model. I removed both bunk beds and built a support frame for a sofa bed. A leaf can be raised and the bed extended to maybe support 2 small children. I did not bolt the unit down and it can be easily removed so I can use the area for something else. A small TV is in the area that can play movies and you can connect a game controlled to it
