Can I run Gen while hooked to 30 amp Pedestal?

I am hooked up in Florida and it is time to run the generator for exercise. Do I need to shut down the “park power” to safely exercise the generator?

Thanks. Rch

That's a good question and I don't know the answer. But for piece (or peace?)of mind, I know I would unplug from shore power before cranking up the gen set.

Yes you can run the generator. You either have a manual or automatic switch over that will enable only of of the power options to service the RV at a time.

It won't hurt anything but it you are trying to place a load on the generator you need to know how your transfer switch works.

My old class A had 2 ACs but would only allow 1 at a time on shore power so if I needed to cool down quick i would run the Gen and both ACs while plugged in so I know my transfer switch gave priority to the Gen, I have no idea if they all do.

You could always start the Gen then turn off the pedestal breaker if you are not sure, then turn it back on before you stop the Gen then no lose of power in the coach

My '05 GT automatically defaults to gen. In FL I always started gen then disconnected th breaker at the post. Never an issue.

You probably have a automatic switchover that will go either to Shore power or Gen power, but not both. Even if it is a manual switchover you will only be able to select house power by Gen Set or Shore Power. You can't run half the coach on Gen power and half the coach on pedestal shore power. It won't split it like that.

Just so others know, you won't get double the power. You will get power from one or the other, but not both.
