Mine is right inside my door. Which is nice so that I can watch it as it rolls/unrolls and make sure nothing is in the way.

Yep, the F is for Ford... A TSC would be a Chevy chassis which is occasionally available... I've never seen a TSC in the wild but they list them in the brochure.

My main awning switch is on the hall wall opposite the door so I can watch when it rolls. But I still can't stand outside the door. The slide out awning switch is on the interior trim of the slide and I can watch out the window.

I either have to sit on the steps and bend over to put it away or get wet standing outside. Switch is at floor level as you enter.

South Louisiana here I use mine almost every day. But I do have a dummy badge for my awning. From an early experience. With a large water balloon. And I use a tie down on the lower end to fight the wend.

Our awning is electric and it cannot be tilted. I was concerned about it and the dealer told us that it is an automatic dumping. Sure enough, it dumps out toward the back of the camper.

We were camping in our last trailer and we were riding around on a nice day. A storm whipped up and we headed back. The awning was ripped off on one end and hanging from the other end. I took pictures for the insurance and called him. He told me to take it for an estimate and let him know. Joe had to get it off the other end, then we folded it so we could get it in the toy hauler. Insurance settled with our local go to dealer. And that was that!

It landed on the dog kennel. Fortunately she was with us, or she probably would have died of a heart attack. She was a big dog (136#) but was a total woose. Sadly we lost her about a year ago to cancer.

Light to moderate rain is ok but wind will destroy the awning and possibly/likely damage the camper in the process. Always roll it up when unattended. If a thunderstorm or other wind destroys it, getting it packed up for travel could be a challenge.

We have always used our awnings mainly for rain, but as many have mentioned, lower the end opposite the door you use. If it gets windy, put your awning up. When we leave, we put our awning up. Have seen many a dumpster full of awnings at the end of big sporting events because a storm came up while people were away from the campground. After doing this for 40 years, we sure appreciate the electric awning!!

I did not know that Dometic & Carefree made support legs !!!
I do know many members here have made there own, I bought a set from a member, but I don't think he still makes them for sale ???

I have the same as you, I have recently removed mine, am using Locking Pins in place of top bolt, I was insearch of a rattle, and thought it was the front pole, I am still not sure we have found the rattle, somewhere around the door ??? We have only been searching for about 3 years !!!

We experienced a rattle as well but a small piece of pool noodle placed on the pole when locking the pole to the arm solved it.

Here is a photo just before the poles were deployed. (you may have to zoom in)
I don't remove the piece of noodle. I simply slide it about midway on the pole (once deployed) and it stays there and serves as an eye-catcher alert as well.

I had tried a pic of pipe insulator @ the bottom, and then decided it was rattling @ the top also ! Your idea of pool noddle about half way might tighten both top and bottom! Which was one of my thought, I may try that or I just might keep reinstall them when needed
