We just signed with Dyson. They have a great little rechargeable vac. Has a long extension and attachments (crevasse tool, full sized floor head, etc).
I have a whole house vac in my home. I installed one of these little rechargable Dyson's in the pantry and my wife uses that more than anything now. Instead of dragging out the hose, you just lift this thing off its base and away you go.

We had a brand new "RV central vac" next to a Dyson for testing and the Dyson destroyed it. Partly...(and this is the same as my residential one) is central vac needs air power just to turn the brush. You waste a lot of suction that way and any little piece (in my situation, tons of legos) get caught in the head and shuts it down. The Dyson has a powered head so all the suction is used to vacuum not power the head. Push a button to dump and it is wall mounted.
