Clunky sound - while sitting still

In our 2021 forester classic 2441DS - When we are camping and just sitting around I hear a clunking sound coming from the door area. We aren’t doing anything but the sound happens intermittently. It is driving us crazy.

Clunking sound -

No - we don’t have that on ours - it sounds like a metallic sound trying to make an adjustment.

I am assuming that your model has the Battery Control Center in the entry step area. If so, that is what my BCC sounds like when the relay in the BCC operates to charge the engine battery, it is intermittent depending on the charge level of the battery.

A long shot here.... Possibly, your crank up and down roof vent isn't cranked shut all the way down. therefore the wind lifting the cover slightly up and down causing clunking sound.

X5. It's likely the BCC. Our 2020 2440DS has the battery control center in the step well. But I have to say I barely and rarely hear the sound of the relay clunking. Maybe it doesn't switch often.

Clunky Sounds

Thanks for the info - my BCC is located by the steps and now I think of it - it does sound like a relay kicking in and out.

Thanks a lot
