Cold air infiltration

Hello. I have a 2016 Forest River MBS 2400. There is one large slide out for this model, and the bed slides out to the side with the head of the bed furthest out. There is a large amount of cold air infiltration, especially around the head of the bed. I can not see any gaps in the seals, but they are difficult to see. It seems that the cold air is coming in above the head of the bed, also up thru where the mattress is against the outside wall. I'm about to put stryofoam sheets under the mattress, vertically on all three walls around the head of the bed and seal them with Duck tape. It will look like crap, but I don't know what else to do. I hope someone has found a better solution. I use my motorhome year round so this is important. I notice the cold air draft when the outside temp drops below 45 F, and it gets real bad below 30 F.

You might think about looking under the slide while it is open for areas that are allowing the draft to enter and with might be easily sealed with foil tape. just a thought

I believe the real problem is that the slides are not insulated like the regular walls.

My first trailer was an Outback where the bed was on a manual slide out. Even down in the 40's the corners of the bed would actually form condensation around there.

Your solution although ugly might be what you are stuck with.

A final thought, is there a window at the head of the bed? That might be a majority of the cold air coming in.

We spent a week in Denver with single digit and teen temps. Cold air from around the slide. We eventually closed it to stop the draft. After researching, people often wedge pool noodles around the outside to seal/insulate. (just don't forget they are there)

Try looking inside with the lights off and when it is bright outside. You might be surprised how much light you will see. Explore those gaps and try and insulate where the sunlight comes in, because if light is coming in so is cold air.

Smile Cold Air Infiltration

Thanks for the good ideas. I've wedged several approx 3 ft long foam pipe insulation things under the inside edge of the floor of the dining nook table, and elsewhere. That has helped. Yesterday I bought a window storm window kit (plastic film) for the bedroom windows and will install that today. Also found a lot of cold air coming in where the floor of the coach body attaches to the cab and will put pipe insulation foam there. In summary, you all confirmed my assessment,[B] we just have to pick away at it.
