I 'll offer my 2 cents. Have you considered not dewinterizing until you're far enough south enough you can count on not freezing

Right now in the east its 50 and 32 at night. No need to be winterized heading south. some one here said 77 in SC. today. That's is as far north as NYC.

That's not a bad idea. I think I'll do that when I get back. Thanks.

If you are driving on 95 in Feb you may have to go to southern Ga. to stay above freezing. As this is the coldest month for nc ,sc,ga then again maybe only to southern va. anything now is only a guess as it was below freezing in nc mountains in early October but where I live on nc coast it has not been freezing yet

The oil heater I am talking about is electric....
It fits in the right rear water bay during transit, the same space that is swapped out for a fan for summer use. This bay also holds the tabletop gas grill.

(Amazon) DeLonghi TRN0812T Portable Oil-Filled Radiator with Programmable Timer

(Sams) Lasko Max Performance Pivoting Utility Fan

Too much info?

we are hoping to do the same thing in a few years. Thought I would just leave the motorhome winterized and keep some pink antifreeze by the toilet.to flush with till we hit warm weather. can always take showers in truck stops.

My guess is there's no real need. If you were to fill the black tank up, leaving no room for expansion, and then park in freezing conditions for a couple of days, you would most likely have some problems. But using the grey and black tanks a few times on the way should be fine.

No, they are plugged into a 120v outlet and run from shore power or a generator. They are nice because they do not have a fan (think noise).
