Dealer says exterior storage locks are generic

My concern would be thieves that were looking for something they could grab and sell quickly for a few bucks. If they have a key...as was said before, they get in and get out with no physical damage. If they don't have a key...they tear up your RV to get whatever they want.

I very rarely lock ours - we now have different keys that came stock on our new Columbus - but leaving it unlocked 98% of the time...we've never lost a thing.

X2 we have been camping nearly 30 years on & off & never had a theft issue at a campground...........

I haven't had an issue with something going missing. I do store the unit in a gated and locked storage area. The problem is that the new RV has an infernal external TV. I could care less but the DW and kids think it's the best thing since sliced bread. My concern is the fallout from opening the door and seeing a hanging cable in place of the TV. Of course a missing TV is preferable to a gaping hole and crowbar damage. I suppose if someone really wanted TVs they could break a window and go to town as well so perhaps it's pointless to worry about it...

Many people around me including the dealers all remove the TVs if the RV is stored outside in any area accessible to the public. My dealer has had a number of break-ins and also puts a sign up that the TVs have been removed.

I just changed all my locks with the tubular kind from Industrial Lock and Hardware. I am more worried about the 751 lock on the basement door to my bin with 400 dollars worth of power cords and adapters. Plus the fact of it being nice to just have one key for the locks is a worth it.
