Difference between 3011DS and 3011DSF?

Howdy forum friends! I'm in the hunt for a 3011 and see listings for both the 3011DS and 3011DSF but I can't find a difference. Floorplan, etc all look identical. I'm curious because I'm currently negotiating a 2020 3011DSF (as listed on the original invoice). Thanks in advance and have a great day!

On our 2019 Sunseeker 2500TSF - the “F” denotes the Trekker Low Profile Front Cap. It replaces the over-hang and bed with a shorter entertainment center. Check our ‘info’ area for a picture of it!

Forester 3011DS and 3011 DSF are the same. The F is tacked on to denote Ford chassis, but the 3011 is only built on the Ford E-Series (nowadays anyway), so the added F really doesn’t mean anything.

I don’t believe that is correct. The F stands for Ford. The Trekker cap (I have one) is an option, but not designated as F in the model number.

My 2018 Sunseeker is designated as 2430S-CD

As you can see in my avatar, I have the Trekker cap. The S stands for the fact that I have the full wall slide on the driver’s side. Because mine was a previous rental unit by CanaDream, it has the CD label because they order them to their specifications from Forest River.

Difference between 3011DS and 3011DSF?

Homer Vista,

Good luck in your purchase. Please know that various aspects of the paperwork for our model year 2020 E-450 based motorhome appeared as both 3011DS and 3011DSF.

One of the veteran salesmen mentioned in passing that it simply represented Dual Slide / Dual Slide Ford.

While we could not be happier with our early in the production year 2020 3011DS - which came loaded with convenient and welcome features, we have seen later 2020, as well as 2021-22 model years that were significantly de-contented.

This included removal of the large below counter oven and separate microwave oven at convenient eye-level cabinet height, both replaced with a single (and in our opinion needlessly difficult to see inside and load) below counter convection microwave - and the complete removal of the above stove top hood and exhaust fan!!

We offer this to mention there appears to be a vast difference in features even in single model year 3011’s, so please look closely to make sure you get what you want and need.

Best wishes. Please let us know how it goes.

Mr. Brian

Mr Brian makes an important point in post #7. The 2020 model year saw many changes over the 2019. 2020 models switched to 12 volt DC refrigerators (from 2-way LP/AC), the power vented range hood went away, interior ceiling lighting fixture count was reduced (in our model), house DVD player went away, LP oven went away, microwave moved to knee level, cheapened galley faucet (in our model), and possible other changes based on floor plan. If you find a 2020 model built in summer 2019, it may be called a 2020 but is built like a 2019. From my observations, around September 2019 build dates, the 2020 feature reductions were implemented.

If you want a DC refrigerator and don’t mind the other feature changes, then get an “official” 2020 build, otherwise look for an early 2020 model build that followed 2019 specs. My wife and I were very happy we ordered and got an early 2020 build, but other people may have different preferences.

Note that none of this has anything to do with the “F” designation, nor does the motorhome model year always correlate directly with the chassis model year

Something you should be aware of is that Ford did not manufacture a 2020 E-450 Cutaway DRW chassis. So your 2020 Forester will be on a 2019 (or 2018 but not likely) chassis which will have the Triton V-10 6.8L. The switch to the 7.3L V-8 is on the 2021 MY. I doubt that FR would have built a 2020 on a 2021 Chassis but stranger things have happened.

Hope I remembered this correctly. If not, somebody will jump in.

Good info, thanks! I was not aware of the range hood removal! This unit does have the lower nuke/convection which we are ok with... we rarely use a stove...

Yup, this is a Sept-2019 chassis. The new Godzilla engine would have been nice...

no differences - the F just stands for Ford. it's in our internal numbers and some dealers list and some don't when advertising.

hope this helps.
