You will get a lot of different opinions. We decided to take Mac the Fireguy's advice and always turn ours OFF. Good luck.

Leave mine on. Will say this, last year involved in accident tanks came off tt when tt flipped over. Excess flow shut down active tank, second tank was closed. Biggest issue was batteries flying around, cracked battery leaking acid fron crushed case. Fireman cut main electrical cables because of fear of shorted wiring starting fire. Cover it all with kitty litter stuff they had on their unit. Was into 6th hour of 7 hour drive was reason one tank was on for refrig.

My fridge/freezer is cooled by Propane when I'm on the road. Never do turn mine off.

Mac the Fireguy is in business to sell fire extinguishers. To do so he will try to scare the hell out of you by stretching the truth to the extreme during his lectures.

I always drive with my propane on.

ON except where prohibited. Cools the fridge/freezer and uses very little propane.

FYI in Canada

If you are ever in Canada...

It is illegal to drive with open propane in Nova Scotia and Manitoba.

Propane valve

I use 1000 watts inverter to run the frig on 120 v, when on the road.
Propane tank valve open when driving is a time bomb!
Exemple: You make a blow out and tire pieces flys and brake the propane line? It did happen you know!
If it is not permit to leave the valve open in a tunnel ???

I wish mine was that good!!
Mine struggles to maintain 40 under good conditions.
I'm not going to leave it off for hours on the road knowing my food was
right at the upper limit BEFORE I shut it off!

So I vote

ON

I like my beer to be as cold as possible when we arrive.
(A beer mug that's got some of that blue ice stuff in it is always on
call in my freezer. That way I can take a 40 deg beer and enjoy a 32 deg
beverage in just minutes...)
