update on Canada regulations

I had posted info that I had found on a web site that some provinces do not allow open propane when driving. I did some reading of those provinces highway traffic acts and I could not find any information that says that it was against the law. I was driving by the regional RCMP detachment this morning so i stopped in and asked. They did not know of any regulation in Saskatchewan. So this is back to personal choice since I could not find anything definite on it not being allowed.

this was the site...

I turn ours on at the beginning of the camping season and it stays on until we put everything to sleep for winter..

It never gets turned off.

I have enough things to do to get ready for each trip. Adding propane on/off, frig working ? and hot water, hot ? is just more bother I don't need.

Yes and no. I run the refrigerator on propane while driving so no. But I do have the wife jump up and turn it off while refueling at the gas station. Then back on once we pull away from the pump.

That's the way we do it also.
On when driving, off to refuel.

Some people who think we shouldn't say to cool the fridge down and it will stay cold for hours.

I keep mine on while parked at home so it stays plenty cold.

One hour down the road with it turned off and the temp rises 10 to 15 degrees plus. Food doesn't keep well at 55 degrees and it takes at least another hour to get it back to 40 degrees.

Yes, the doors are tightly closed.

Good point...

Funny.... I'm one of those guys who always leaves the propane on but I make damn sure I turn off the water pump when away or travelling.

Camper is plugged into 50 A receptacle and under overhead and side covers beside shop building while parked.

Since it is sometimes a month between trips I turn our propane off when we get home and DW turns off the reefer and opens the doors to insure no frost forms and to prevent mold. We turn the reefer and propane back on a couple days before leaving for next trip.

I'm in the club where it's never turned off. I've survived 16 years of RVing like that.

Never shut mine off on the 5er or previous 5er. 6 years x us and back east. North to Mackinaw Bay; south to Destin. NOW, I would if going through the bay tunnel. I avoid that. Fear of a FLAT right in the middle [emoji23]

Not if your fridge can run on battery. Mine does, so propane is off.

I turn mine on a couple of days before I start too put food into the fridge. I add some ice packs and water bottles when I turn it on. I keep it on during the drive and then when we are done camping and the camper is clean I turn it off until the next adventure, and they are all adventures!!

My first trailer only had propane. Stayed on all the time while camping. That was 1985 and still today propane in on while travelling. If here is a small leak better having it go boom bye bye without us in it!

Yes, Garrette's "Propane on all the time" includes 'when traveling'.
