Dometic Awning Front Channel Replacement

I am replacing the front channel of a Dometic power awning on my Sunseeker motorhome. I have the part and it seems like a simple replacement (a bolt and two pins). But I don’t think it as simple as it looks. I am concerned about the torsion spring and the strut when I remove the front channel. Should I leave the awning closed, open or just two revolutions from the RV? Do I need to insert a cotter pin in the end cap? Any advice or suggestions are greatly appropriated. Thank you and happy 4th of July

A few thoughts but not able to provide exact help. I did Google the part but didn't follow any links for instructions so I'd suggest doing so - and I think I saw a few YouTube videos that showed up on the search criteria as well.

Google is a good resource for you.

Pinning the extended roller tube is part of the procedure I followed in replacing my 16' awning fabric so it's rather natural to think you'd be doing it too, but without instructions I wouldn't advise it.

Where'd you get the parts? Sometimes sites like eTrailer have instructions or reviewers post what they did to install

Thanks for the advice Chris. I purchased the part on EBay and decided to contact the seller. He walked me through the process and is sending me the cotter pin that I need to pin the torsion spring.

I found some old curtain hangers, cut one apart and it worked well as a pin

Glad you found help
