Door Strut

On my 2801QS when my door is open it is only a couple of inches away from the extended living room slide.
I have put some pool noodle on the corner to protect it because the door opens so quickly if you are not holding it , it will slam into the slide.
I’ve changed the strut but it only helps to prevent the wind from slamming the door shut.
Any ideas of what I can do to prevent the door from opening so violently? Is there such a thing as two-way struts?

Would it help if your strut was ever so slightly shorter? On our Sunseeker 2440DS, the gas spring strut was poorly located to where the door would hit the awning arm if the awning was deployed. It only needed to keep the door an inch or so away from the awning and it would be fine. After trying to find a slightly, like 1/2” shorter strut to no avail, I figured out how to shorten the strut with a little careful sawing of the struts end fittings. The fittings are threaded on. I unscrewed the ends and cut off maybe 1/4” on the female part, but it still left enough thread engagement for a strong attachment. It’s hard to explain without a picture, but anyway my slightly shorter strut solved my door/awning interference problem.

I entertained all the ideas listed so far by my most intellectual friends.

I finally attached some paracord, and used wire eyelets on the ends. I drilled pilot holes in the top of the door and on the underside of the drip rail at the top of the door. Then I attached the eyelets with self tapping screws.

A few trials of what length of paracord, and it stops the door from hitting whatever.

Easy peasy.

Thanks for the ideas, I think the shorter strut would help I have a spare I can play with, but still would like to slow the opening of the door if possible. I guess maybe a less powerful strut and keep an eye out for wind.
