E450 Tires survey

We’ll see where we go with this one, but you can submit your response with the original tires you got with your Class C, or what your replaced yours with. Some will obviously comment as to better or not. No comment, will assume people are happy with their voted brand.

There’s no right or wrong answer.

Survey will only provide brands, not make or model.

Is there really a magic tire out there? Other than tread pattern there hasn't been a new revaluation since radial tires hit the seen. I guess there is Kevlar tires but that's not really an option most people would need or afford.

Most tires on RV's probably age out before they wear out. Unless your RV is your daily driver. I will probably base my decision on brands I have had good experience with on my car or truck when we buy new tires.

Mine came with Hankooks and are about 3 yrs old now. We keep it inside, so I'll see how they age out. No cracking yet.

I am on my 2nd set of Michelin, replaced them 7 years ago when I purchased the rig used, just replaced again this year and went up one grade (C8).

Michelin - Agilis CrossClimate - 225 /75 R16 121R C8 BSW

I feel the new tires have a softer ride which is good, but feels "soft" in the corners. It still handles well (I don't really want to edge case test to find out if it is better or worse).

I did an "edge case test" with my last set of michelin tires when a car pulled out in front of me and I changed lanes in under 30 foot at 55mph, surprised I did not roll, surprised I did not collide.

Have original Hankooks now. Will someday in the distant future replace with them with whatever is on sale, has rebate, or best price. Much like oil is oil, nowadays tires are tires.

The only class C tire I ever had trouble with in the past was an OEM Michelin that twisted up or went severely out of balance and got a crazy uneven wear pattern. The rest in the set were fine but that one had to be replaced early on.

What are you running for air pressure? Going by the Michelin chart I think I should be running less than my old ones.

Strictly Commercial (Zappaism)

Hi Ken,
Mine came with the Hankooks. Will be replacing them with the Discount Tire Pathfinder HSR’s in the same size. They are made by Cooper.

I found this chart on the Michelin website (after an hour of digging)

I am using the GAWR from the door jam as my weight and running 60psi (vs 80psi on door). Next time I am loaded for a trip I will hit a CAT scale and adjust.

Not exactly. That video is about the Commercial grade Pathfinder HSR shoes. It does elaborate on the reasoning behind going to C’s. I saw it back in Feb 2021 when I started doing some research.

Brian,
Bill’s chassis is different than yours. While his numbers are right for him they should be a little higher for yours. Using the OEM numbers of 2560@75 and 2470@80 on Bill’s chart it looks like about 65 front and rear will get you to the promised land.

Nexxun Rodians here on our 3051.

Just had them all replaced with the same brand.

They were getting close to aging out and planned to replace this spring. On the way to Florida last winter the TPMS went off and we heard a chunk of the passenger rear inner come off.

Tire held air just fine after that.

Been pleased with their performance overall.
