Help, need to know where to place my gar in GPS so that I don't keep loosing sat signal. I have a 2014 3010 with the megadyne radio, and that GPS just plains Sucks. Bought a Garmin to use on our month long road trip and so far I have to place it on the driver side door window to maintain sat signal any help is really appreciated.

gar GPS
Mine sits in a holder the mounts into the dash vent, right under the windshield. Gets good reception. No reason to place in side window.

GPS
I mounted my Garmin on dash and works fine. What a shame We need the Garmin with the high dollar Jensen mounted in the dash. This thing is the most people unfriendly thing I have tried to use. Also when the sun is bright, I cannot see the screen at all and the Garmin is bright and easy to use.

Speaking of not seeing the screen, I just had to get REAL glasses for the first time (not just reading glasses) due to age, and I got the Progressive lenses. Try looking at that screen through Progressive lenses! You see all the "layers" of the screen.
The Magnadyne has too much information to process on the screen. Plus, you can't "mute" the radio and still hear GPS directions. If you mute the radio, you mute the directions. When I'm driving in a large city, I need to have NO DISTRACTIONS except to hear the GPS.
It's a good idea to have a backup portable GPS in case the Magnadyne fails for some reason.
I keep fearing the Magnadyne will fail on DVD's.... sometimes it sounds like it's GRINDING.

I have progressive lenses and not a problem, not sure about yours, they take a little getting use to but never had the problem your talking about, if it persists, and is not something that it is the"getting use to part", take them back and have them checked, just saying, It is just my experience with them over the past 16 or 17 years

GRINDING.

Not completely accurate. If you have the source to Bluetooth and have nothing connected...or AV1, there is no audio, but the GPS directions still play.

GPS
There are several options on screen colors on the Jensen for day or night. I cannot find any bright enough to use on sunny days. The co-pilot can get close and make out the map, but no use for the driver. Again the Garman is bright and clear.

Not sure what model you have, the Garmin Nuvi 750 I used to have (before someone thought they needed it more than I did) had a port for a corded auxiliary antenna. It was a brass "hole" about 1/8" in diameter set in the top of the device. It allowed you to put the antenna in a window or like I did, out the rear slider and on top of the truck.

IMO nothing comes close to a Garmin in ease of use, functionality, or map availability. I use Nuvis in my car, truck, RV, snowmobile, ATV, and offroad motorcycle.

X2 I've used Garmin for 15 years and never had a problem. I have the Garmin 3590 MT in my TV and the 760 in my Soul. DW has a Pioneer unit in her Lexus SC430 and it sucks. She refuses to use it.

Got to say I have my Garmin attached to the drivers side window and it works there. I Neto find a different mount to place on the dash. The suction cup mount will not get the unit close enough to the window but will try different spots. I have a month of travel to find out what works .

I use a Garmin Portable Friction Device. $18 on Amazon. Allows me to move the GPS anywhere on the dash whether flat or not.

I love my jensen GPS! Once I learned how to use it I have had no problems. I wear a good pair of sunglasses that cut out the glare and I am good to go.
