Extreme Heat on Passenger Side Floor.

We took our brand new Sunseeker 3071DS on its maiden voyage yesterday. It is on a Ford E450 Chassis We are experiencing very high passenger side heat at the feet next to the engine compartment while driving? It is too hot to touch after about 20 minutes. The driver side is Okay. I am concerned because
1. This is abnormal (and)
2. The Propane Tank is sitting just behind this area. Has anyone else had this problem? I will contact for on Monday for Warranty Work.

Any info would be appreciated.

I hate to say it, but I am not sure which engine is in it. It is not a diesel and I don't think it is the V-10.

could it be the 6.2L v-8?

3171 will have the 6.8L Triton V-10. I have not heard of passenger side heat that is excessive.

Econolines typically run the exhaust manifold close to the floor of the driver and passenger area. With the stuff that runs through the drivers fire wall such as brakes and steering column, there is adequate ventilation under the floor. However with the engine slightly shifted to the passenger side, this crams the manifold right up to the inside wall and floor of the passenger foot space. That's why it is so small too. I don't know how hard it would be to get to, but pull the center console out to expose the rear of the engine. This is how the engine is accessed for major service. You should be able to see the exhaust manifold from here and there should be a heat shield with high temp insulation over it. Even with that though, it still will get hot. I have driven diesel Econline ambulances and if you are the passenger on a long trip, take off your shoes and enjoy a warm set of feet during the trip.

I just drove an econo-line van 3000 miles round trip, wife never complained. But she seems to always be cold.

I just fixed this issue on my 2005 e250. Mine was on the driver side. This wasnt toasty air on the toes it was oh my goodness gonna burn my leg through my jeans. My mechanic was aparently in a hurry at last service and did not completely close the doghouse. There are metal flanges that need to go inside the compartment to hold the lid tight. Make sure you're sealed completely on the passenger side. It'll save a lot of headache, and engine noise in the cab

To me it's normal. This was the case on our first Sunseeker and it happens on the one we have now. Dog house is on fine, just a lot of heat in that area. Mostly from exhaust but engine and tranny heat also help keep it warm.

Good to hear it was an easy fix and nothing seriously wrong.
