Florida from Arizona

I was told this morning I should ask the veterans of I-10 to see if it is recommended to take it all the way to Florida. I’m open to suggestions or personal experiences of what parts, if any, we should avoid.

It has been about twelve years since I drove from Phoenix, AZ to north central Florida, but you can go interstate the entire way. In Texas it is important to watch your gas tank and fill up when you can. Do not wait until you are close to running out as you might not make it to the next service station. I was driving a car and would not let it get past 1/4 of a tank before gassing up. We had no problems with that. If you are in a vehicle that does not get great gas mileage, you might not want to let it get below 1/2 of a tank. Others with more experience can chime in.

Louisianais always a mess with construction and bad roads along I-10, but the rest of I-10 is usually good! Just watch-out for rush hour traffic thru the large cities.

I’ve driven it a few times now in the last 2 years. There’s really not a whole lot to say- it’s a highway.

Time your travel to avoid rush hour in San Antonio, Houston and Mobile. Otherwise it's just days of highway driving, nothing particularly memorable.

3 years ago we took I-10 to Florida. left Albuquerque went south to El Paso all the way to Florida. had a nice trip

I’ve shared our stops a couple of times. When we did it in January 2016, I broke it into 200-250 mike segments and made the drive.

I would suggest picking up I-12 on the East side of Baton Rouge instead of taking I-10 toward New Orleans. It will merge back with I-10 just before you cross into Mississippi.

Thanks for tip as I have driven by New Orleans and it was not fun.
