Ford e450 rear view mirrors too large

I recently purchased a 2018 Sunseeker 2290s on the ford chassis. While the mirrors offer good visibility to the rear they also obstruct my vision to the sides because they are huge. Before this I had a 2015 Sunseeker 2300 on the Chevy chassis and never had this complaint.
I realize this may seem trivial to some but it is a problem for me.
I wonder if anyone has installed a smaller (shorter) mirror or just put up with it or don’t think it’s a problem?
Stan

I'm not following.how the mirrors obstruct your vision of the sides. Maybe a pic from the drivers seat would help explain what you are talking about.

It just takes getting used to. I have very large towing mirrors on my F-150 and they seemed the same way at first.

I experienced the same feeling (not the mirrors) but with the windshield post on my ram when I went from a F350 to the ram. If you stick with it you will soon not notice the difference and or learn to compensate for it. Good luck

I agree the Ford mirrors are very large and can obstruct your vision to the sides of forward. I almost pulled out in front of a car that was hidden from view behind the mirror in the every early days of driving my 2019 E-450.

However, since then, I'm aware of where the blind spots are and I know to check the areas that could be blocked by the mirrors. On the positive side, I'm very please with the rear view these mirrors provide, so I'm willing to deal with the forward blind spot.

That doesn't answer your question. I have not shopped for any substitute mirrors.

Don't know if you are interested in replacing tose mirrors, but my dealer orders F 150' with standard mirrors because they look better. I didn't know until after I bought my truck. Ended up buying specially molded mirrors from "Fit Systems" that are easy to put on, do not vibrate or slip and look like original mirrors. They are great, if you want to change to the smaller EOM mirrors. You can find them on line.

Would these mirrors stick out far enough for the OP to see around his motorhome body, probably 101” wide?

This may sound silly, but for me, you can never have enough outside rear view mirror. Well, within reason. I wish my Silverado had bigger mirrors.....

Jim, Behind Bars,
Thanks for the replies. I will be in Cincinnati for a couple of weeks visiting my daughter and family. I’ll have time to take the motorhome to a dealer and get their opinion. In my opinion, that upper portion of the mirror is about twice as large as it really needs to be. The visibility to the rear is nice but it creates two large blind spots for me.

I love my big rear view side mirrors. No blind spots when you use the bottom convex mirrors. I’ve had these on 5 Ford vehicles and would never drive a truck without them. If your interested in aesthetics, get a Porsche.

Mirrors

The first thing I noticed when I got our Forester was just how great the mirrors were. My former TTs I pulled with a Sierra with the original mirrors that I always had to watch and watch some more when changing lanes. The Ford mirrors are so much better. Suggest as time goes on, you will get used to them and really appreciate the safety they provide.

I can understand shorter drivers having an issue with these large mirrors. We can move front to back and look around the A pillars, but it can be very distracting and almost dangerous to have to bounce up to look over the things when in heaver traffic areas. Follow your instincts and good luck.

Velvac mirrors

1. Ford E450 cutaway chassis used to build Class C motorhomes do not come with ford mirrors. The outfitter mounts what is needed for the coach width being used.
2. The Class C I have been around use Velac mirrors and arm length can vary.
3. Velvac does have more than one style possibly another style will help you. Look at the 2020 XG style possibly would help, but I do not know exactly what part of mirror is interfering with you.
See Mirrors at Velvac.com or try rvcenterparts.com they have good photos and info. I imagine the 715441 is similar to what you have looking at 2018 Sunseeker photos.
Good luck finding an answer for your issue. I cannot really relate as this mirror was on my Coachman that I loved. Wanted to add the turn signal light though.
