Forester 3011DS air suspension

Anyone install an on-board compressor to keep the air bags full? It stinks having to check and fill before every trip, and then every few days after that on a long drive.

Would be nice to just have it be automatic.

The "Wireless air 72000" works great. It keeps a constant set air pressure in the bags and you can adjust the pressure while driving.

I just use a bicycle pump with a gauge.

Takes less than a minute per side.

I went with the cheapest of the AirLift units -

AIR LIFT 25804 Air Shock Controller Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000CFO05E..._cSF2xbTCB32VD

Mounted in the wet bay, where the left side fill was. Pulled power off of the converter (which is also in the bay) and routed the right side line across & used a 'T' to connect it in with the other. I've lost the ability to fill them independently, but frankly don't care. The analog gauge and controls are right there in the bay, easy to check and run every time I stop for gas.

Turned out to be a quick and inexpensive fix to an annoying task. Now I don't have to unpack the bays to check air, or run around to both sides, or dig out a pump and stow it when I'm done. I'll try to remember to snap a pic in daylight tomorrow.

Plugged the hole on the passenger side


Could have gone shorter on the air hoses, cleaned things up a bit, but I wanted to make sure I had enough to work with.


Used the included fuse tap to pull power from the converter.

That condition will wear out the air pump in short order, better to use soap suds on the fittings to locate the leaks first.

Grinch, we gotta' do this. Great setup Jeep. Any trouble routing the line across to the passenger side and did you need to adapt the fittings? Did you reroute and connect to the existing hose on the pax side or connect the new line to the top of the bag, removing the old line?

Now here is an interesting question. Is there anyway to use this same compressor to fill air in the tires? If so, then it might be worth looking at as then I would not need two compressors. (one dedicated to the air bags and one portable for the tires)

NewRV, the OP can weigh in, but my thoughts are, it takes a pretty beefy 12v compressor to do tires in a timely manner, but yes you could. If you go to a 110v cmprssr to get the volume for tires, you can't do the bag quick adjust at the pump.

They have a system with a 2 gallon tank and an auxiliary air line for tires and toys.

Routing turned out to be a piece of cake. The lines are both routed along the frame rails at that point- once you pull the line out of the passenger side, yank it across to the driver's side. Used a couple zip ties to keep it neat. I used an extra push 't' fitting and simply cut the valve off, cut the driver's line, and pushed them together. If you are careful of the wire loom you'll keep it all wrapped and factory looking pretty easily.
