Fresh Water Tank Overflowed

Got up this morning and my fresh water tank was overflowing at the fill site. Was hooked up to city water. Have a 2018 2410WS Forester. No problem last night when I took the dog out.

Turn city water off ,relieve pressure in the system. Turn on water pump and let water run in a sink for a minute then shut the pump off. This should reset the back flow check valve. Turn city water back on. This happens a lot.

Don't run the water pump when connected to city water as this can sometimes cause this issue.

Since the cause is running the pump when city water is on and it's so easy for that to happen when others are in the trailer it might be a good idea to install a check valve ahead of the pump.

Valterra makes one that merely screws on the male threads of the inlet filter and then the barb fitting that came off the filter screws onto the check valve.

About $12 at Amazon

If installing one just make sure the threads are well sealed so air isn't sucked in. Install one and no more worries about overfilling the tank ----- period.

Also, are you using a good water pressure regulator? High city water pressure can overcome a perfectly good working check valve in the water pump.
