We are presently camping in Newfoundland and need to use the furnace. We pressed the button to furnace and it lit and it was blowing warm air, but the air conditioner came on also. We can close the vents on the air conditioner, but why is it on at all with the furnace? Is this normal or do we have a problem?

If you have the digital thermostat you probably need to select FAN on your thermostat and hit + and - to select AU (AUTO) not LO or HI. Should take care of your issue.
