Grab bar light?

Our 2017 Forester has an outside entry door grab bar that looks like it could/should light up. But, it doesn’t. Porch light works. Might this have a separate switch or fuse or maybe not have a light at all?
Thanks for any thoughts.

pull the grab bar and see if there any wires leading to it, this will confirm if its lighted or not. JMHO

I have the exact same model of grab bar on my 2018 Sunseeker, and I’ve seen lots of other Forester and Sunseekers with this grab bar.

Pretty sure they’re just what you see……no lights inside. That’s usually reserved for much fancier/pricier rigs.

My 2016 Sunseeker has the clear grab bar, it doesn't have a light.

Lighted Grab Bar

I have a 2016 Forester with the same Grab Bar. I illuminated it by removing the bottom bracket and drilling a hole to insert a small LED flashlight pointing up. Works great as acrylic is a great transmitter of light. Just leave the push button slightly proud of the surface. I change batteries about once a season.

None of them are lit from the factory.

My lighted grab bar

I have the 2015 Forester 3051 and always liked the look of a lighted grab bar. While I was considering buying a lighted grab bar, i removed the one installed on my unit and found out that it was completely open at the top and bottom. I was wiring an indoor stairway light and had a spare switch to use so i ran power through the wall of the RV to the bottom of the grab handle. In the handle itself, i glued a small 12v LED amber marker light and it fit right up against the clear plastic of the handle. Then I packed the area behind the light with some wadding and then glued it in place. I've attached a picture of the final version lit up. It looks great and I leave it on at night instead of the porch light - much less obtrusive. It was really easy to do and the LED means it won't require replacing for a long time.

Hope this helps.

Peter
