Has anyone heard about this or know if it's true. We were told that we should not use a antibacterial soap to wash dishes, hands and in the shower in the coach. Typically that water goes into the gray tank. Supposedly the soap renders the Gray Water Treatment ineffective, which would cause odors and other problems. Thanks for any info.
We used antibacterial soap in our last travel trailer with no problems. Antibacterial soap will not hurt your gray tank. Some parks prefer that you don't dump tanks with antibacterial soap in them because it will kill the enzymes that break down the waste in there septic tank.
The last day out when we go home in Mar, I will put about a quart of 50/50 Pinesol & SuperClean down each drain and about 2 gal of water and drive the last day, approx. 200-250 miles. Do the same with the black tank.
I think you meant black tank. Double check your source, as the others have said, I am not aware of grey tank treatments that are used. IMO
The black tank only gets water from the toilet, not sinks or showers where anti-bacterial soap might be used so I think grey tank is correct. There are products for grey tanks as well. I don't use them every time but at least once a year. Just do a googe search and you will find products for grey tank treatment.
