Gray water question

Just a general information question

A couple days ago I was washing my hands in the bathroom sink and realized the water was not draining, I immediately thought the drain was clogged because the shower drain was dry. Then I looked at the kitchen sink and it also had water not draining.

I checked the control panel and it said "gray = 100%". I was confused that the sinks had water backed up but shower was dry. I dumped the tanks and all is well, but why didn't the water back up into the shower? Any one have this happen to them? Could the shower drain have a check valve?

I am guessing your 3011 shower and Black tank are hooked together also! How many Tanks are in your unit? Looks like your unit only has 2-39 Gal Tanks! Youroo!!

Is it possible that the shower has one of those high-tech p-traps (forgot the name, uses a one-way flexible membrane to prevent odor backflow vice the u-shaped trap)? I know my sink in the galley area has one of them.

Don't know about water backing up in the shower, but I do know the shower drains to the grey tank in our 2018 2291. I watched the tank levels on our last trip over Christmas and after my wife showered and washed dishes the tank was @ 33%.

On our Cardinal the shower and kitchen sink drain into one gray tank, while the double vanity bathroom sinks go into another (along with the washing machine if we had one). Since we don't have a washing machine...we rarely get much at all into that second tank.

But, showering and washing dishes fills one of the 40-gallon tanks pretty quickly. Since we pretty much always have full hookups, it doesn't matter that much but it was sure a sorry design in my opinion.
