Great trip home

So on my way home from Disney I got rear ended in Virginia. Doing 65 in right lane guy going at least 85-90 hit me. Waiting to see what police report says. Will keep you all posted.

Yes thankfully. Guy was in a small Dodge Journey and destroyed the driver rear compartment and bumper. Tried to say it was my fault. Unreal.

At least rear end collisions are extremely difficult to prove it was the front vehicle's fault. Good luck! I had a hit-and-run rear end collision on the interstate. Luckily one of my passengers got a photo of her license plate. The state patrol tracked her down and the imprint of my hitch receiver on her front bumper pretty much sealed that she was the one that hit me. Her insurance paid for my repairs.

Lately a lot of speeders are in right lane. they think Cops don't look for speeders in that lane. Wrong for sure. Hope for a quick fix for the damage the idiot did to the rv.

I'm wondering how he managed to miss those bikes. Is the coach still usable for camping?

I think he was in the middle lane and lost control or distracted and hit me coming on an angle. That is why i think the ladder is bent to the passenger side. It’s still driveable but the rear compartment is shot. Had to move all stuff out of compartment and tape it closed to get home with it.

I drive in VA every day. It likely was NOT your fault.

Update:
The guy that hit me, his insurance is taking 100% responsibility. So that’s good news. Still haven’t gotten police report.

We're glad you and your family are safe. I have a Sunseeker 3010DS. I put a dash cam on the rear window (on the glass on the ladder side so it's almost centered) while traveling, plugged in behind the bedroom tv, records what happens behind me. This way, incase I'm hit in the rear, or they hit my toad, I have a video of what took place.

I am seriously considering purchasing 2 dash cams. One for the front and one like you have mounted to the rear window.

I see that sort of thing happening when somebody is trying to pass a group of slower cars. They try to shoot the hole on the right and are totally committed to it because of their speed. When they misjudge because a truck or other slow vehicle is moving slower than they estimated, it blows up in their face.
I think it's reckless, but a lot of the youngsters seems to think they can just hit reset if it goes awry.

Glad no one was seriously hurt.

I'm sorry, but if he were going 85-90, it would have done way more damage than that, seriously?

He was in a Dodge Journey. Gvwr 5100lbs. 2019 sunseeker 3010ds 14,500lbs. That’s about 1/3 of the weight of my vehicle. And we were traveling in the same direction So yea he was going 20mph faster than me. Seriously

Ouch!

Glad no one was hurt! I had a similar incident, but I had my toad on the back. Speeder saw a cop, hit the brakes and lane-changed into me…hit the toad, the RV ladder and the RV bumper. Toad repair was $1400. RV body shop found the same bumper and, literally, the last ladder at FR for my model so they new ladder fit the old holes! I asked a couple RV repair centers where to take the RV for the body and paint work (my unit has full paint) and both recommended the same “coach works” that repairs buses and boats, too. Unfortunately, the storage door has been the hold up…FR doesn’t seem to have any for my 2016 2400! Looking in to fabrication, but the body wasn’t damaged as badly as yours, so I just drive it and tell people it was in Nomadland!

Thanks. Yes thankfully no one hurt. The adjuster is coming tomorrow so we shall see what they say.
