GTS 2800QS/2801QS Sad News

I just noticed that the GT Series in both Forester and Sunseeker has been discontinued and only dealer stock is available for 2018 models.

I’m wondering if this is a transition phase-out to bring in the new F-450 chassis builds?

Any thoughts?

Probably because the 2500/2501 is almost the same floor plan and can be purchased with the short cab over.

The only similarity in floor plan is the bedroom. If thats what the plan is they will create a larger group of Aspect 27k owners.

I'd heard the 2800 / 2801 was going to be discontinued like the 2430 / 2431 was earlier. The reason given was poor sales volume and their price point. The Coachmen Concord is close enough to fill that market space for FR so maybe the bean counters won this round...

That makes good business sense. But the Conc 300TS didn’t measure up to the Sunseeker/Forester and it was $20k more. Sigh!

A few years ago there was a Concord brand, like Sunseeker, that was sold by Forest River not Coachmen. It didn't sell very well so it was folded and the GTS Series was created.

I think part of the problem is the GTS series is priced relatively high and dealers seldom carried one as part of their stock. I can understand that as the GTS design makes it a niche market unit. Most dealers won't carry a "Trekker" cap in their inventory for the same "niche" market reason.

I suspect that since the "Trekker" option allows several floor plans to have the GTS "style" that it's marketing's replacement for the GTS line up. Especially since the Trekker is a "No Cost" option when ordering.

It will be interesting to see what, if anything, FR does next. Bringing out a Ford F-450 based replacement would get me looking...

Very disappointed. I was fortunate to get t the 2801 a few years ago. It is likely the only C that I would ever want to buy, unless I was showered with fortune and the patience to deal with a DX3. I hate the overhang on the standard C, and question the wisdom of such a construct. Oh well. I don't have a reputable Aspect dealer nearby.

My used Sunseeker is my first RV. I do like it but if I had deep enough pockets I would look at the 2019 Wonder with rear twin bed and garage. If you have the time watch Dean describe the RV in the video in the blog. These RVs are pretty innovative.

Interesting concept. Kind of like a Knaus design. I highly doubt the folks who like the GTSeries would be interested in a “weekender” floor plan. We looked real hard at the Renegade Villagio 25MBS. That type floor plan just does not offer the interior or exterior storage that you want when you travel for four months at a time. One thing I do know, if you want a floor plan like the 2800/2801 next year, your pockets are going to have to be a lot deeper than you think.
