Gutter spout problem
I have found what seems to be a design flaw on my "new-to-me" 2018 FR Forester MBS 2401WS. I would appreciate any advice/help on a fix. There are 4 gutter spouts, one on each corner. The spout on the passenger front is broken. I bought replacement parts... then realized the awning arm, when retracted, hits the spout. That's why it is broken. The gutter does not extend out far enough to allow the spout to be in front of the awning arm. (See pics below of front & rear passenger side gutter spouts.)
Has anyone dealt with this problem?
Thanks,
Papa Dee

I'm afraid you are going to have to live with the broken one unless someone knows of some miracle cure.

Here’s photos of two 2018 Forester 2401W MBS
I’m betting yours looks like the top photo? (No bunk bed?)
So……factory orders the same length awning for inventory, and it’s not a problem if your roofline is longer with bunk beds.

It is not broken. The spout was cut off at the factory just like on my ‘18 2800.
I would have preferred a heat and bend rather than hacksaw but that’s not important now. With FBP replacement is ugly.
So here was my high tech clip on low cost solution:

Thanks for the info.... ingenious fix... I cannot tell you how many times I have pondered a fix.
Replacement part is here, but the fix seems simple.

Yes, my RV is the one without a forward bunk.

I found the easiest fix to the gutter problem..
This alligator clip with a wire will allow the water to follow the wire and drop away from the side of the RV.

How about the driver side on a 2401W? My downspout drains into the door pocket when I have to open the door in the rain. Anyone had a problem with this and how did you deal with it?

If it’s raining into your pocket that fast, go in through the house door on the passenger side, or leave the driver side window down and climb in through the window.

They haven’t fixed the problem as my 2023 Sunseeker does the same thing. Raining, I go thru the coach door

Is your Sunseeker with the Trekker cap front?

Ken,
I'm going to be watching to see if you climb thru your window!

Novel Thought
Although I had a quasi-trekker cap just like Ken’s and the gutter spout is behind the door, once I exited I was subjected to the falls. Although it never rained while we were camping, I did carry and deployed a stylish bumbershoot when inclement wx was encountered.

Exactly my question as well!
There has to be a way to redirect the water flow!
And going through the couch is not an acceptable resolution.

I had the same issue with my Forester 3051, water directed onto the inside of the driver or passenger door, whenever it rained. To solve this, I removed the front gutter spouts on both sides at the front. Then, i redirected the gutter on each side into a one inch ID clear plastic tube that I bought at Home Depot. I glued the tubing to the front cap, following the raised curved seam that is already there on the sides of the cap. I ended the tubing a bit lower than the bottom of the cap on both sides. Now, the rain water is directed into the tubing and it is discharged well in front of the doors. The only issue is that the tubing can accumulate debris but a long brush on a flexible wire easily keeps it clean. It works great. I would include pictures but the rig is sleeping and I don't want to wake it just yet. I hope this helps.
