We have a 2016 Forester 3011 DS on the Ford E450 chassis with about 9,200 miles so far. When on the road for about two hours, my DW noticed that the firewall part of the floor on the passenger side gets uncomfortably warm to the point where she sits sort of side saddle in the seat. I have looked behind the rubber matt and there is no insulation. Kind of surprised Ford didn't insulate this. I am going to insulate the floor on the passenger side with "Cool It Thermo Tec Thermo Guard FR".
Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this same problem and if so how did you rectify it?

The insulation you mentioned works great in street rods so it should also help a lot in your RV.

Another easier solution is to install a Lloyd Mat carpet. It will reduce heat, and noise, and made my DW happy in our old E-450. I already have new one sitting here for when our new 2500TS arrives.

You can get one from AutoAnything. See Here. Just enter E-450 with the Select Vehicle Options and you'll see the one piece one I ordered. The Lloyd's Part Number on my order is: UM4 \ 3302280.

Note: When Ford ended Econoline production in 2014, except for the incomplete chassis, most online ordering systems also stopped at that year. I always claim to be a 2014 to spoof the system when ordering trim parts like carpet. For drive line parts I use the real year...

Many thanks for the information. Noise has also been a bit of an issue. Anything to reduce that as well as the heat will help

What year is your chassis? I wonder if you have the 5 speed or 6 speed. The 5 is a little louder.

It is a 2016 but apparently assembled in 2015

Look on your door jamb for the blue Ford incomplete build sticker. It’ll tell you the year your chassis left Ford. 2015 chassis didn’t have the 6 speed transmission.

Often times you’ll see a year older chassis on a given model year coach. As in a 2015 chassis on a 2016 coach.

Mine is something unusual. Chassis finished 1/18, coach finished 2/18.

Unfortunately the RV is in storage. I'll check later today. However, I pulled the file my DW has and found we have "Ford's new 6-speed Automatic TorqShift Transmission w/Dual Overdrive."

Be happy with that it’s a great transmission and your coach would have been a little louder and hotter without it.
