How to "Lock" the slideouts - 2003 2890 LE

How does one "lock" the slides for travel - I bought the rig used, the manual is of little use. I have a couple of the bars that have rubber tips on each end but I can't figure out how to use them.

Those bars should fit between the top of the slide and the wall. They are meant to keep the slide out from shifting outward while it is retracted for traveling.
