Is this a standard thing? It wasn't mentioned in my walkthrough so I'm assuming I don't have it?

It's an OPTION. Your thermostat will have Heat Pump written as a selection if you have it.

Use the furnace
If your camping in 30 degree weather - you are going to want the furnace operating. I haven't seen or heard of a heat pump that can keep your coach warm in that kind of weather. The best it can handle is a temperature down to about 45 degrees. Good luck.

If you are tripping circuit breakers, then you have other issues. We have the heat pump option in our RV as well. According to dometic, it works down to 30°. We have only used it one time, since most of our camping is either dry camping, or warmer climates.I actually prefer the furnace since it is a little bit quieter. What circuit breakers are you tripping? Jerry

Note that while the heat pump may be an option for you, it does not provide heat to the water and sewer compartment like the furnace does. There are furnace heat ducts that run in the underbelly and heat ducts that blow on the water pump and sewer connections. If you use the heat pump or electric heaters inside, you lose the advantage of the heat ducts.
I find the heat pump to be a great option on those "cool" mornings when you need to take the chill out of the air. For serious winter camping, the furnace works best.

I agree with RV Bill and the others that have talked about lack of heat in the water bay etc when using heat pump
If you want to take the chill out of the air use the Heat pump
Full furnace for winter camping and basement protection
Portable electric when shore power available for Free heat to save on Gas
But remember if it's really cold outside you need to be concerned with your plumbing getting heat so run that furnace, it's the cost of winter camping

On systems with the heat pump setting, the propane furnace should start automatically when the heat pump can't handle it any longer.
HEAT PUMP
mode, if the outside ambient temperature
is measured to be below 30°F and the vehicle is equipped with a
furnace connected to the Comfort Control Center, the control will
automatically select the
FURNACE
operation and the
HEAT PUMP
will shut down.
Important:
If vehicle is not equipped with a furnace no heat
will be available below 30°F. IF vehicle is equipped with a
furnace and it is connected to its own thermostat, it must be
manually turned ON and OFF for operation.
When this happens, the
AUX. HEAT
and the
HEAT
PUMP
indicators
on the LCD will illuminate. Once the outside ambient temperature is
measured above 38°F, the control will return to the
HEAT PUMP
operation and shut down the furnace if it is connected to the Comfort
Control Center. If furnace is not connected to the Comfort Control
Center, the furnace thermostat must be manually turned off.

Mine doesn't switch from heat pump to furnace automatically, it's a manual function.

I am going to check it out for sure when we get our first freeze. Might be this week. Will post my findings as soon as get them.

That works! Also, let us know what thermostat you have. I don't have the Comfort Control Center one. I have the Dometic Single Zone LCD stat for the heat pump.
