Irritating Squeak

Does anyone have a suggesting on how to manage / repair a squeak that is coming from the RV door as we are driving. To me it sounds like a metal on metal rub from the door latch or lock. As we are going to be traveling for 6 weeks in the fall it would sure be nice to eliminate the sound.

We have a FR Sunseeker 2500TS.

Thanks

Keran

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. Try putting some lube on the latch and striker plate and see what happens, you can also try thin weather seal around the door lip

Welcome to the forum. We pick up our new 2500TSF Tuesday.

Open the door and look carefully at your door frame and see if the door is rubbing the paint. If it is you might be able to shim the door, to re-square it, to help cure the noise.

Also use a good rubber preservative, like 303 (See Here), on the door seals. That can help as well.

As SeaDog suggested some thin rubber seal may also cure your squeak. I would add it to the door, instead of the frame, so it is out of sight if I went this route...

My DH put weather seal around the door frame.

I stuff a piece of foam between the screen door and the door. Helps a little. I also lock the dead bolt- tightens the door up.

Some folks just throw a large pillow in the footwell and jam it up against the screen.

We put a piece of folded up paper towel between the screen door and the inside frame.

Thank you all for the great suggestions. Once I give it a try I will report back on how they work.
