Jensen GPS system

The GPS system that we have in our motorhome, (which is a Jensen device) is not very user-friendly. My biggest question is....do we have to subscribe or purchase a CD or memory card in order to initiate and continually use the GPS program?

1. No. The GPS is built in. There is a micro SD card in the upper right hand corner (behind a flap).
2. You can get an updated map system (if there is one) if you request an update within 90 days of registration date.

GPS options?

Looking to buy a new 3050S next year. Question is: what brand is the GPS that comes in the Ford chassis? Is it Jensen? Also, is there any other options, as I'm getting the feeling that the Jensen is not very user-friendly, etc. We have a Garmin that we use in our car and like it very much, but it is not built-in.

Garmin makes a GPS specifically for RV'ers. If you travel a lot of unfamiliar roads, I'd give this unit a good look:
Amazon.com: Garmin RV 760LMT Portable GPS Navigator: GPS & Navigation

Wish Forest River would get with Garmin and install this unit in all their Class A's & C's

Bonus: Garmin does NOT charge for map updates - the unit comes with "lifetime" map updates. Also, for another $150 you can buy a GPS unit with a integrated wireless backup camera. What's not to like?

I've used the Jensen...I though it was way more user friendly than the Magnadyne. Nothing is as user friendly as google maps on the phone for speed and finding locations The turn by turn is no good.

I also use Tom Tom...and I don't really like that because the interface is european based (I think)...just the way they ask for street and address (order wise).

I guess I'm confused by specifically what is not user friendly? They're always taking suggestions.

GPS

Thanks for the info HSVBAMABOB, I'll look into the Garmin RV unit. Was hoping that FR had an option for a built-in unit other than the Jensen. Not familiar with the Magnadyne.

We don't use Ford radios. as part of the RV package the mirrors and radio get deleted.

I would test it out before dismissing it. Or if you like your mobile garmin, you can use that.

I have a brand new Jeep and have yet to use the GPS in it. I always use Tom Tom on my phone because its the one I am familiar with. If we don't understand it...its broken.

Too bad you do not use the ford touch screen navi systems. Since 2009 they have been using Clarion built systems that are light years ahead of the old Pioneer units they used to use.

We had the option to get a Clarion system, but it used the same iGo Primo software that the Jensen used. They are also touch screen.

Having said that, I have used the Ford & Chevy systems. I don't think any of them are near as user friendly as the new Jeep uConnect system.

I still have not been able to get my Jensen GPS working. It seems like it's stuck in the demo mode. It will not locate a satellite. It's very frustrating, I wound up just plugging in my iPhone 6 for driving directions during our holiday trip. I am super disappointed. I have a wonderful Bose system in my Highlander and I'm thinking of taking out the Jensen and replacing it with something better. The Jensen doesn't even locate a starting point of our home or the time zone we're in, pitiful system or pitiful me....I can't say which for sure

Yeah that igo software is crap. The ford spec GPS is awesome. Have not used the uconnect so can not comment on that.

I have tried and cannot regulate the volume on the Jensen when I use the radio and GPS together. The radio volume is OK, but the GPS is either too low or too loud. The manual says they are independent and I follow the directions to regulate it, but nothing helps. We use our Garmin now.

Hi SoCalLengyels,

I represent ASA Electronics, the producer of the JENSEN brand of televisions, stereos, and speakers, Voyager brand of observation monitors and cameras and the Advent brand of appliances. At ASA, we strive to provide excellent customer service and product satisfaction and would like to offer some assistance in this matter.

It sounds like the unit is in the DEMO mode. This can be disabled in the SETTINGS>GENERAL Menu. It should be the last item in the list (DEMO ON/OFF). See page 25 of the owner's manual (main radio manual, not the navigation manual).

If you need further assistance, please call our Technical Services dept at 877-845-8750 M-F 8:00AM to 6:00PM EDT.

We are looking at a Jeep as well - we were VERY gratified to learn that Garmin powers all the Jeep GPS systems.

We have the Ford SYNC on our Truck and it is the WORST $700 we have ever spent - the GPS - frankly - sucks. So much so that we are just abandoning it until Ford makes the change over to iGP & a more iPhone friendly interface (besides Ford wants me to spend $140 a year to update my GPS? I don't THINK so when the Garmin RV unit costs $325 with lifetime updates - or $450 with a integrated wireless backup camera!)

1. I would try taking the card out and putting it back in. Sometimes it i not lined up properly. Top right corner there is a little tiny flap with the radio model number on it. Open that, push in on the card to pop it out. Push it back in then (It should click).
2. If that does not work, try resetting the radio. (Should be a little reset button just above and to the right of the volume knob).

Hello everyone and thank you. I have tried all of your suggestions, but still without success. At this point I am going to report it to the dealership and see if they have a specialist to help me with it. I am also going to call JENSEN RV DIRECT who I also thank for a phone number and assistance.

Question.

Is there a way to make the GPS background a light color?

Right now mine is set on dark blue or dark green ( this is in daytime mode). It is very hard to see.

I wish there was a white background color

Have you looked into the Nav settings? You can choose daytime colors or night time colors. Navigation owners manual attached.

Hello, I thought I would follow up with the problems that we had with our Jensen Navigation System.

As it turns out the entire system is having to be replaced. It was stuck in a town in Texas, and could not be edited.

It would not change time zones or even pick up a satellite!

Many technicians were very puzzled by this problem, (driving a few of them to the brink of madness &#128522

The dealer we bought the motor home from has been wonderful, and so has Jensen the maker of the GPS/Radio System.
