Somewhere in my mass of spare parts, I have an inline King Jack signal meter if anyone is interested. It works on the same principal as the built in unit, but would have to be mounted or hooked up (just has to connected to any coax) where you can see it while rotating antenna.

This is how I found out the information relayed to you. I talked to a Customer Service rep to find out you can buy the Signal Meter from them.

Hello.. KaylesMom welcome to the forum.. I bought a 2017 2861 DS last June . 2016 from Camping World [emoji289].. Cherry wood interior. I have the Jack King in mine with the little blue lights that shows your Signal strength. Just love mine.. I'm sorry that yours didn't come with the rest of the equipment. Hope you get everything straightened out, the only problem that I have with mine is the Firestone Ride Rite rear air bags..which makes a big difference. Good luck.. keep us up to date . Hi Joshua.

We removed the base plate to our antenna and we do not see the black coax wire coming down through the ceiling that you talk about above. What are we missing?

Thanks.

Hello wvufan1958!

I'm glad to hear you love your King Jack antenna with the signal meter. A friend of ours has the King Jack antenna with the signal meter in their camper also. My husband saw it and liked the way it worked and was happy that we were getting one -- until we found out we didn't get it. Now we would like to add the new base with the signal meter but we do not see the coax Joshua referenced in his post above so don't dare order the new base until we are positive we can hook it up.

We have the Firestone air bags also. We are having issues getting air into the one on the driver's side. We think the valve stem is too short / has not been pushed through the storage bay wall far enough to get the air chuck attached properly. We looked underneath thinking maybe we can adjust it but there is a lot of spray foam under there that we have to get through and the temperature has only been in the 30's here in central New York state so we're waiting a bit to do that job.

Take care!

we are newbies and have same Kng antenna. Short version is inour rvthe antena is near the camper door. the are cabinets above the door. If you fell around and find a face plate with s tiny button and push it the antenna is powered. You will not get the lights to indicate signal strength, but if you figit you may get some channels. Thanks for post as it made me t
look at mine.

My last 2860 had the blue lights, loved it as made it easier to tune in, new 2860 doesnt have them, changed complete antenna to get them back. a step backwards i think to save a couple of dollers

I don't want to change out the antenia (if that's what's needed) just to have the power indicator. I wanted it, thought I was getting it, but, it is what it is !

Placing a sticker over the non existent power strength meter lights ? TACKY !

I do agree that was not a good place to cut costs on the RV !

Steeljag, we also thought we were getting the antenna with the signal meter lights. Nope. It's definitely not the end of the world but was kind of a let down.

And THANK YOU! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks just placing a sticker over empty holes in the higher level antenna base is TACKY! If the decision is made to go to a lower "basic" model antenna, then go to the lower model all the way, including the appropriate base for that lower model with no holes in it.

Joshua had told us "You will need to call Customer Service at King from there you can purchase a new base. The satellite will have a black coax wire coming down through the ceiling to hook the new Signal meter base to." Two of us on the forum looked for the black coax wire Joshua referred to and couldn't find it.

That was in reference from the King Jack antenna Tech Center.

I'll try and get out there today while they are installing an antenna to see if I can help.

I had the same problem with the air bags- couldn't get air in or check pressure because the store didn't stick out enough. I removed the nut on the end, pushed the fitting back out through the hole and countersunk the hole just enough so the nut now sits flush with the face of the panel it penetrates. Works fine now. Just have to be careful not to drill all the way thru or you will have to drill a new hole(I know[emoji30]). Hope this helps.

Just installed the SureLock SL1000 signal meter from King Jack. It was a very easy install and solved our issue of having no signal lights on our King Jack base. I used command velcro to hold the unit in place just because I am allergic to drilling holes or putting sticky tape on my new camper =) Hope this helps. Sorry the photos are sideways. I am photo dumb.

Following up on this topic

I have a 2017 2860DS and am looking to make the same upgrade. Right now, looking at either installing the SureLock SL1000 or replacing the base.

Josh/KayleysMom - Was there a final answer on the black coax cable needed from the antenna to connect to the new base?

PCRYER - How do you like the SL1000 in operation? I've seen pretty mixed reviews on Amazon.

If the necessary black coax cable is present and the price of the base with lights is comparable to the SureLock option, this will be my preferred option.
