Looking for a Forester 2691S

Does anyone know why Forest River dropped the Forester 2691s? It appears this model was made for a number of years, but I can't seem to find any of them used... Anywhere!

As much as the walk around bed would be nice, the thought of folding the bed in half doesn't appeal to me. If I understand the 2701DS layout, the queen bed is basically useless while on the road (or anytime the slide cannot be extended).

I am new to this forum and have. Winnebago Access 26q, and am looking at moving to a "better" floorplan (better for my families needs)

Any comments on the 2691S would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Isn't that the new 2651S. I think it's the same floorplan

If you like the U shape dinette, then it's the smaller 2301 / 2291s or up to the 3011.

The 2691s had the U-shaped dinette and the bed wedged in the corner. From what I can tell it has evolved into the 2701ds.

Is the folding bed in the 2701ds useless when the slide is in?

We looked at the 2701 and didn't like the feature of the bed when out - didn't want to sleep on a seam - and not being able to use bed with slide in. We also didn't like the rear side bed floor plans - no elbow room.
Walk around bed / lots of counter space / the ability of the Passenger seat to be turned around and / or able to recline without a sofa behind it / and u shape dinette were our important criteria / and lots of storage

I like the 3011 and 3171, but we also tow a 22' boat. I believe both models when loaded with our family, guests and the boat would exceed the CCC. That's not to say we have completely decided against it but the slightly shorter length and additional weight capacity of the 2691 does intrigue me. I certainly prefer a walk around bed like our current unit has, but I would take the trade-off for the 28 foot unit if possible.

We went from a Sunseeker 2300 to a 2700DS we were really unsure of the split mattress but we found that after adding a foam pad it is quite comfortable. The bed is pretty much useless with the slide in, but we really like the floor plan. And I really like the 28' length of the MH.

We have the Sunseeker version of that floor plan, 2690s.

That floor plan phased out after 2014 models (who knows why?)......

We actually purchased 8 hour drive away to get one of the last ones (NEW) we could find (was like 3 or 4 online searches nationwide), in February of 2014, and the 2015's did not offer that model.

Benefits to us (active couple with little dogs):
28 foot rig (not to small, not to large) -had limited space at our home for storage & wanted to be able to travel in & out of many areas. Medium Sized Class C
Has a couch seating & u-shape dinette. Couch was important.
Has a usable bed without having to open slide (we travel alot boon docking, quick stops to rest sleep, etc...).
Lots of storage in the rig and outside compartments.

Yes, corner bed is tricky/a pain to make, gets easier with practice.

Shower a little tight for me (I'm 6 ft) --but many or most Class C's have the same shower stall.

This coming February will be 2 years of ownership, over 25,000 miles and over 45 trips, and we love the setup, and benefits described above. Can go almost anywhere with it, in and out of parks, stores, etc......

It is a great setup for a couple, every once in a while we will have guests, and the setup is pretty much all together, meaning the partition of the back bed encloses the bathroom also, so guests using the bathroom, will be right next to main bed. So need to be real comfortable with your guests.
