Loose ladder 101

After a few years of toten my carcuss up the rv adder it was getting a little loose and wiggly. Don't let the dealer tell you "its bad" thensell you a replacement with installation cost. You just need (another) ladder to reach the top of the highest bracket on the exterior side wall, a large phillips screwdriver, butyl tape, six 3" x 1/4 x 20 bolts, and 24 number 12 x 1" sheet metal screws (sourced at lowes).

If you havent looked inside one of the tube brackets there are expansion nuts (same idea as the pic below) that may have moved a little outwards while getting settled into the side wall of the tube during first few "hundreds" of loads on them (some loads are heavier than others Im just saying).

Just remove the long bolt and the four on the wall, tigthen the hidden screw under the four screw cap, replace with new stainless screws all around. Reinstall..

This task was rated as a three corona project.

Good info the condition the ladder is often forgotten until there is a leak or worse.
