Negotiating Price on a 2017 2501TS?

Hello. After much research, we feel the Class C Forester 2501TS is the best fit for us. We're thinking about heading down to the big Pomona, California RV show that is in progress right now, but I was wondering if anyone here knows about negotiating price. Retail for the 2017 at one of the local dealers is $98,620.00 and their sale price quote for the RV Show is around $68,900. Is that a fair price, or can I do better? Just wondering how this works as this is the first time we would purchase new. We would love to purchase used, but there are no used 2501TS models right now. Thanks in advance for your input!

Your in the ball park for sure. Does that retail price include a bunch of high pieced dealer add ones like delivery and prep? Little games that are played to boost msrp making it look like your getting a great deal.

"SSP package is $450 and includes all hoses, adapters, tool kit, chemicals, etc. etc..full fuel and propane."

Yes, I hate that game!

I'd like to negotiate lower because that's just what I love to do. My husband not so much which is a problem at times because I don't think dealers like women negotiators! Haha! Any pointers?

Sale price for 2017 Sunseeker 2500TS is $68,675 and the sale price for the 2017 Forester 2501TS is $71,675. I'm not sure the upgrades in the Forester are worth the extra $3,000. Thoughts?

Simply for a price check. Go to these sites. . Rvone.com they will give you a price for the sunseeker 2500. Then go to rvwholesalers.com and do same for the Forester 2501. You can spec the unit out with the options your looking for and they will give you no haggle quotes via email. . This is a great starting point for you

And yes I own a 2016 Forester and I thought the upgrades were worth it. . That is strictly a personal choice. I also paid about the same price the similar Sunseeker cost so it was not even a hard decision.

They will bring the Forester price down from the $71,675 to $69,900, but that's the lowest they'll go I think. Tax and license is around 10%! That's the hard pill to swallow. I told them I didn't want their $450 worth of hoses.

Go to rvwholesalers.com you will get an instant quote on the unit and options you want so you can see if they are close to what you should pay.

Thank you. I did visit that site, but they don't seem to have the Forester 2501TS, only the MBS models.

Thanks for all your help! I did the build and it comes in lower than the local dealer quote, and that's with the auto levelers which we definitely want. At least this gives me an idea of a fair price and may give me some negotiating leverage. But just for the auto levelers alone it would be worth the trip to Ohio.

I don't think it is right for a dealer to be selling on here.

Anyway, go to RVdirect.com and get a price on the Sunseeker version. You can probably add what, 2-3K? to that to come up with a Forester price.

When we bought our Sunseeker, I did that. Then I called regional dealers who had the model in stock, told them I had the price of $X from RVdirect, and asked what they could do.

They got their prices down in a hurry. Two or three matched or beat it.

I believe what was mistakenly thought to be a dealer was a member offering to run an online "build" for another member at RV wholesale and giving him the quote that he recieved. It's a favor thing.
