New 3010DS soon...Serial Number ?

I am expecting delivery of my new 3010DS sometime this month. I recently received the VIN number and chassis serial number so I am hoping that means it is being built now or soon!

I am getting my insurance ready and wanted to see if there is any easy way to determine if this is going to come thru as a 2015 or 2014. The vin lookup shows a 2014 Ford cutaway (as expected).

Is there any way to look at the chassis serial number and know if it is a 2014 or 2015?

Thanks
John Walker

Do not know but we picked our 3170 up march 2013. Had a 2013 ford chassis and a 2014 FR build. Titled as a 2014. So, knowing the vin of the chassis, may not be the total answer. Ask you dealer for a copy of the certificates of origin. One for the chassis and one for the house. They will get turned in to DMV for a title. My dealer was out of state and asked if I could get the title.
That is the way it works in South Carolina.

Don't know if this will help you. I just registered my 2013. The house was mfg in 2013 the ford chassis in 2012. The motor vehicle branch took the date off the chassis informing me that this was how the year was determined. Alberta Canada.

Alberta and I think BC register off of the chassis VIN. Most other provinces register off of the coach VIN. Frankly that is how it should be. When we get a chassis title under "model year" it says "incomplete vehicle". So no model year is given, but it has to have a digit in the VIN, which is what Alberta looks at. In the states, only NM and maybe one other state register off of chassis VIN. All others register the unit off of Forest River VIN. The 10th digit is what dictates model year.
