new owner back with another problem....
Well, we've been able to 'enjoy' our 2017 sunseeker 2860 (chevy chassis) on 2 camp outs now. We just returned from our second trip this morning. Came home, pulled into the driveway, parked it, unloaded and cleaned and then did some stuff around the house.
When I pulled in, I parked behind my stall of our 3 car garage. Now the damn thing won't start!
I recorded a video, but in case you don't listen to the audio here's what happens. When I turn the key to start the engine, it does absolutely nothing. The entire dash resets and starts over. The lights dim, I believe, like it's trying to start or it's shorting out somewhere, who knows. Here's the video.
https://youtu.be/dtyFiFcs0ro
I've done the following:
- I checked the slides were all the way in
- I checked the awning was all the way in
- I fired up the genset, let it warm up, then used the boost button to try to start the engine, but no difference.
- Based on reading other posts, I've run the gear selector up and down the entire range multiple times.
- I've tried starting in park and in neutral.
- I've tried wiggling the shifter a bit
- I've tried with park brake on
- I've tried with park brake off.
- I checked the battery cables to make sure they were tight
Am I overlooking another possible solution that a rookie would make? We got home just fine this morning and haven't done anything but unload the RV, so I really don't know what could be different from the time we left the camp ground until now. I'm at a loss and am extremely irritated right now after already dealing with a roof leak issue that appeared on a unit we hadn't even used yet.

My first guess is there is a loose battery cable somewhere.
Are the lights bright, and do they dim when you engage the starter?
Have you tried a different set of keys, in case it is something with the chip in the key?
It appears that it is loosing voltage to the chassis when you move the key to the start position.

It wasn't quite dusk when I first tried, but the lights seemed typical.
Haven't tried another set of keys.
We did have a bit of a bumpy ride home, but jeez, I'd hate to think that's all it takes for something like this to happen.

I get this all the time on my 2014 chevy chassis 2500TS. I turn the key to on, then back to off, then back to on and start. Usually works. I was told that the fuel pump needs to pressurize to 58 psi and it's only getting to 53 with one turn. All BS to me, but it works

When this happens to you, does it mine where everything goes out when you turn the key switch? Like it's trying to start, but either the start relay isn't engaging or the starter is toast?

Tried our other key with no luck.
Also, confirmed the lights appear normal brightness to me. When I turn the key to try to start the engine, the headlights go out, amber parking lights stay on. When I let go of the key the whole dash resets.
I also went out and wiggled all the heavy duty cables I could find around the battery and the starter and they all seem secure.

I don't comprehend very well....I am shooting at bad battery or dead. Newer batteries give warning, but with a short history on your RV you haven't got the history yet.

Even with a bad chassis batter, I should have been able to jump it from the coach battery with the genset running. The battery gauge on the dash was showing 14+ volts when I had the genset running and held down the button under the driver seat to divert power to the chassis.
Still did nothing.

Any potential it's related to being parked on my slightly slanted drive way? It's not steep at all. Typical driveway, but not flat for sure.

Yes, but I need it out from behind my daily driver..... #1, it's a holiday, #2 didn't realize it was a problem until after 5PM when they would have closed normally.

Plus just to add to the frustrations I've had with this thing since having the water leak before we had even used it.

If i understood correctly, I basically keyed on, waited a few seconds, keyed off and immediately keyed back on. If that's right, it didn't work.

Remove the battery cables, clean them, then reattach. If corroded they can carry enough voltage at low amperage to work but will fail under high amperage when you hit the starter.

It's a brand new RV. The cables aren't corroded.

if the chevy starters are like they used to be, you might want to check the connections on the starter solenoid.
