New owner questions

Hi, I'm a new owner of a 2004 Sunseeker 2860DS and have a bunch of questions.

1. The shore power cord is in a compartment in the basement. To have it hooked up the cord needs to hang out of the compartment which leaves the door cracked open and open to rain...am I missing something? My Salem TT had a little round pocket (like a gas cap) and the cord pulled out of there.

2. My outlets only work on the generator. They trip my home gfi when plugged into the 110 converter plug then plugged into house thru extension cord.

3. Where can I find body parts? I need a little piece of trim that goes over the rear drivers side tire.

4. I'd like a back-up camera. Do the wireless ones have good reception that far?

Thanks if you can help in any way
Scott

Check the bottom of the compartment for a 4” plastic screw in cap.

Think you mean 30amp to 15 amp adapter. Your extension cord is probably too light or too long or you are drawing too much power.

Fuhgetabout it. Coach is way past service life for spare parts. You will have to source one from a junk yard.

Some do, some don’t. Suggest you do a search and gleen what you can from the reviews.

[QUOTE=Poolboy;1908565]Hi, I'm a new owner of a 2004 Sunseeker 2860DS and have a bunch of questions.

1. The shore power cord is in a compartment in the basement. To have it hooked up the cord needs to hang out of the compartment which leaves the door cracked open and open to rain...am I missing something?

Our Solera has a cord pass-through like this:

https://www.amazon.com/JR-Products-S...cord+pass+thru

If your Sunseeker doesn’t have one, looks pretty easy to install with a hole saw.

2. My outlets only work on the generator. They trip my home gfi when plugged into the 110 converter plug then plugged into house thru extension cord.

Lots of issues trying to hook up to a gfi circuit. Most use a non-gfi home circuit.

3. Where can I find body parts? I need a little piece of trim that goes over the rear drivers side tire.

Lots of generic parts are available on Amazon. Probably also on e-bay (I don’t use e-bay nearly as much). Example:

https://www.amazon.com/ICON-12038-Ic...v+fender+skirt

4. No idea on wireless bu cameras.

You can not plug into a GFI circuit ay home. 2 GFI'd in series don't play nice. If you trip the GFI in the coach and don't try to use it you can plug into a GFI circuit.

2. I use a 100 foot 12/3 extension cord to run power to my MH when parked in my back yard. It does not trip the GFI plug. We do not use the MH to live in in back yard but my wife has used her Keurig so enough power for that.

Is your GFI in the plug or in the breaker? If it is in the breaker then perhaps you just have too small Of a gauge of extension cord.

4. I ran a wired backup camera using plastic raceway on wall up against ceiling.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Found the screw cap for the shore power cord, camper outlets work when plugged into non gfi home outlet, found a fender flare on Amazon, and Best Buy is hard wiring a backup camera for me next Friday. Appreciate the help!

As usual, this forum has made someone's camping life better. The knowledge base here, in my opinion, is unsurpassed.
